FHA Connection System Enhancements – Single Family Housing Policy Handbook FHA Releases Planned System Enhancements for SF Handbook’s September 14, 2015 Effective Date In anticipation of the September 14, 2015 effective date for the Federal Housing Administration’s (FHA) new Single Family Housing Policy Handbook (SF Handbook; HUD Handbook 4000.1), FHA is preparing mortgagees by providing an overview of the FHA Connection (FHAC) system enhancements that will be available for case numbers assigned on or after the September 14th effective date. These system enhancements coincide with policies and programs previously announced in the publication of the SF Handbook. The system enhancements announced today primarily impact three screens in FHAC:Case Assignments;Appraisal Logging; andInsurance Application. FHA is providing a technical specification document on the details of the FHAC data input, field, screen, and calculation changes including workarounds for using existing processes to identify Simple refinance and 203(k) program type identification. The technical specification of the enhancements and updates are accessible from the Case Processing Requirements page on HUD.gov. In the coming weeks, FHA plans to make available technical details for entities utilizing direct interface with FHAC. These technical details will be available on the FHA Connection Business to Government (B2G) Interface page on HUD.gov. Additional changes regarding the automated 203(k) worksheets—as well as HUD Real Estate Owned (REO)—will be communicated separately.
