IT'S THE LAW- Statement 7: Prohibition Against Discrimination
State agencies should be aware that Title XI and the Agencies' regulations prohibit federally regulated financial institutions from excluding appraisers from consideration for an assignment by virtue of their membership, or lack of membership, in any appraisal organization. Federally regulated financial institutions should review the qualifications of appraisers to ensure that they are qualified for the assignment for which they are being considered. It is unacceptable to assume that an appraiser is qualified solely due to membership in, or designation from, an appraisal organization, or the lack thereof. The Agencies have determined that financial institutions' appraisal policies should not favor appraisers from one or more organizations or exclude individuals based on their lack of such membership. If a State agency learns that a certified or licensed appraiser allegedly has been a victim of such discrimination, the State agency should inform the Agency which has regulatory authority over the involved financial institution. Three Perspectives from the 2014 NKBA '30 Under 30' Recipients
At this year's Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS®), the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) recognized the recipients of the 2014 "30 Under 30," a group of young men and women who are still in their 20s but represent enthusiastic entrepreneurs, forward-thinking CEOs and cutting-edge designers.
"Gen Y has a great perspective on how our industry can thrive and refresh itself," noted Alison DeMartino, Director, Marketing Communications for Wilsonart. "As a '30 Under 30' Platinum Program sponsor, we wanted to share their insights on critical industry topics." After scouring the show floor for innovations, trends and new technologies, the group offered these three perspectives, as captured in this video. More

Why homes are hitting bubble-era prices without bubble-era headaches
Home values in a few states have surpassed the price peaks reached during the housing boom, but that doesn't mean a return to the days of frothy pricing. In March, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Wyoming and the District of Columbia exceeded their old highs, the mortgage firm CoreLogic reported Tuesday based on its own price index. Still, there's no reason to fear a price bubble in those markets, said Mark Fleming, the group's chief economist. More

People performance: Building's next goal?
Back in the 1990s, management gurus talked a lot about high-performance teams. Today, the talk is all about high-performance buildings. What if high-performing buildings also needed to meet requirements of high-performing individuals? The day may not be far off when clients will demand both. Long before LEED and the quest to improve building performance and sustainability, organizational specialists documented the impact that the work environment has on worker productivity and well-being.
