Title
Green Asset Management Toolkit for Multifamily Housing
Highlights
There is implicit recognition that lack of resources can discourage sustainable affordable housing units.
Enterprise Community Partners provides a toolkit for owners, asset managers, and maintenance staff to make affordable housing green and sustainable.
Description
This toolkit, by Enterprise Community Partners, is a resource guide for affordable housing owners and developers looking to incorporate green features into their developments. Finding that green building retrofits improve resident health and lower utility costs, the toolkits authors recommend using fluorescent or LED light bulbs, updated insulation, and new, low-flow showerheads, sinks, and toilets in affordable housing units. The authors of this report find that adding recirculation controls and duct sealing can also improve the indoor air quality. Furthermore, the authors list funding sources and a recommended action plan for making affordable housing green.
